چکیده

Fluid–structure interactions (FSI) on highly flexible structures involve large deformations and require specific techniques for a thorough investigation of the flow field structural deformation. To this purpose, physics-informed method is introduced that allows simultaneous determination fields deformation by using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) raw images. The combines apriori knowledge mechanical characteristics structure with classical image processing segmentation. PIV recordings an actively pitched, deformable hydrodynamic profile experiment in closed water tunnel serve as example case. achieve accurate results, contour obtained from segmentation further defined under assumption its flexure can be described Euler–Bernoulli beam theory model. This makes it possible to determine neutral fiber final reconstruction becomes original geometry. resulting procedure recognition itself suitable cross-section measurements masking images improve processing. A test case comprising synthetic data similar application modeled geometry known shape used investigate accuracy validity measurements. Under conditions cyclic dynamic stall, mean absolute error 0.84° could reached, deterioration up 2° static stall. has major advantage compared other technically more sophisticated complex methods, such combination Laser interferometers combined Laser-Doppler Anemometry: usage single source both, fluid solid unified measurement method. Therefore direct comparison instantaneous possible. In consequence particular useful multi-physical processes involving extreme deformations, passive control soft actuated or robotics.

Simultaneous measurement of water flow velocity with fluorescent and speckle imaging technique

The average velocity of water flow has been simultaneously measured with fluorescent and speckle imaging methods. The measured velocities with two methods are in good agreement with each other and it confirms that the speckle imaging method can be used as a confident method to measure the velocity of water flow in a dry leaf. Also the velocity of water flow through thick and thin xylems of a le...

Cavity Flow Control Simulations and Experiments

Feedback control is used to suppress oscillations in the subsonic flow past a rectangular cavity. A heuristic feedback law is introduced into 2D direct numerical simulations, using zero-net-mass forcing at the leading edge of the cavity and a pressure sensor at the wall, and the oscillations are reduced by −13dB. Reduced-order models are obtained from fullorder direct numerical simulations, and...

A method for bubble volume measurement under constant flow conditions in gas–liquid two-phase flow

Measuring the volume of a bubble, especially at its detachment, is a basic subject in gas-liquid two-phase flow research. A new indirect method for this measurement under constant flow conditions is presented. An electronic device is designed and constructed based on laser beam intensity. This device calculates the frequency of the bubble formation by measuring the total time of the formation p...

Simultaneous Control of Active and Reactive Powers of Vanadium Redox Flow Battery Systems in Flexible Microgrids

This paper discusses the control of flexible microgrids, consisting of a Redox Flow Batteries (RFB) and a new power conditioning system (PCS) for the RFB. Considering the importance of energy storage, this study is essential in power systems that are developed cautiously. RFB is connected to power system by a DC/DC or DC/AC converter to produce a DC voltage. It is very important that this conve...

Tracking Address and Control Dependencies for Full-System Information Flow Measurement

Dynamic information flow tracking (DIFT) works by tagging (or tainting) data and tracking it to measure the information flow throughout the system. Existing DIFT systems have limited support for address and control dependencies, and therefore cannot track information flow within a full system without addressing these very challenging dependencies in an application-specific fashion. A general wa...
